Chanson et chiffonnerie à Paris au xix^e siècle

In nineteenth-century Paris, songs were the artistic production (whether they are to be considered literature or not) most connected with the world of the chiffonniers. Social status, the location where they operated, and police monitoring all seem to draw singers and songwriters closer to these rag-and-bone men. In this article we will study this proximity, before showing how it is manifest in the discourse that makes songs the mode of expression for la chiffonnerie.
