One of the most poignant ways the Parnassian movement is represented is as a serious movement, that measured itself as much via the rigidity of its institutional contexts as via the predilection of its members for effort, measure, and rationality. This current article scrutinizes the foundations of this reputation and the way it has been challenged by parodic efforts, in particular those of the Parnassiculet contemporain.
