The “Musée de la Littérature” exhibition in 1937, a site of communication about literary history

This article analyzes how museums construct, exhibit, and “communicate” literary history, by engaging in an original dialogue with schools and universities during exhibitions. It questions the way in which museums can be considered a fully-fledged actor in the elaboration and development of literary history. The case study discussed concerns the ‘Musée de la Littérature’ exhibition, which opened its doors in Paris in 1937 on the occasion of the International Exposition of Art and Technology in Modern Life.
