Feminine personae in the play of voices in Clément Marot’s work

From the beginning to the end of several verse epistles and other poetic pieces, Clément Marot lends his pen to first-person female voices, which go uninterrupted and unregulated by any other speaker. Within these poems, which are not works for the stage, readers can directly hear the voices of women with a great diversity of rhetorical ethos. In this study, we analyze these utterances, in which Marot becomes the ventriloquist of his female speakers.
