Gabriel Gauny, Indignant, Witness and Defender of Workers’ Dignity and Emancipation

A little-known figure, Gabriel Gauny was a contemporary of the French revolutions of 1830 and 1848. As a worker, he suffered from the working conditions of proletarians, and set out to make them better known. At the same time, he vigorously defended a social project partly inspired by Saint-Simon, based on fraternity, an ideal that could be achieved through sentiment and imagination.
