Sachexegese Oscar Cullmann Facing the “School of Karl Barth”

The analysed article, devoted to biblical hermeneutics, is the first of those published in the RHPR that positively evaluated Karl Barth’s thought. Its author, O. Cullmann, subscribes to the method of Sachexegese prescribed by Barth, though criticising him for having considered it as an alternative to historical procedures. We show that, if the theory Cullmann elaborates is very close to that of R. Bultmann, it distinguishes itself from it by leaving no room for Sachkritik.
