In 1948, Roland Cailleux, a doctor and friend of André Gide, published a novel with Gallimard entitled Une lecture in which the main character, during a long course of treatment, discovers and reads the whole of À la recherche du temps perdu. The result is a gradual reversal and transformation of his life. The ingredients of Le Temps retrouvé in particular is the subject of much discussion.
