Double justification The two sources of the Proustian vocation

From Jean Starobinski’s “double legitimacy” and Héctor Pérez-Rincón’s “medical-literary transverberation,” we can shed light on the two sources guaranteeing Proust’s vocation and his hero. He evokes the Jewish, maternal side, linked to Ruskin’s translations, and the paternal side, connected to the experiences of another self carried out by his father, and to psychotherapy with doctor Paul Sollier based on the bodily sensations that resurrect involuntary memory.
