The cultural status of film adaptations of Proust’s works in the light of Bakhtin’s ideas

Anglo-Americans specializing in cinema and screen adaptations of literary works have observed Bakhtin’s ideas. The presence of Bakhtinian concepts among these theorists (Stam, Hutcheon, Jameson) sheds light on the cinematographic intertexts in Chantal Akerman’s La Captive, an adaptation of Proust’s La Prisonnière.
