From Marcel Proust to deconstruction The ‘world of differences’

This analysis intends to approach Derrida’s discourse on différence/différance and the conception of différence as conceived by Proust in his Recherche. It will be shown that Proust and Derrida first proceed from the same starting positions, but that their objectives and results differ significantly: While Proust, always in search of a truth to be revealed, affirms the difference, Derrida ends up questioning it and finally denying the concepts of truth and meaning.
