For commercial reasons, Proust was forced to finish Du côté de chez Swann in an artificial manner, creating editorial problems. The three scenes of walks to the Bois de Boulogne went through a series of anguished revisions in the pre-texts, changing places as if in a strange dance. An original remedy can be suggested for Proust’s solution, which was certainly not the best from the aesthetic point of view.
