The many references to "Heaven" in Dom Garcie de Navarre may come as a surprise in a play that seems to focus on the issue of jealous love. By highlighting the link between jealousy and divinity in the play and, more generally, in the 17th century, this article suggests that the Heaven invoked by the characters enables them to contemplate social and love relationships that do not run the risk of degenerating into tyranny.
