Bossuet and knowledge A study of enunciative devices in scientific discourse

Both interested in scientific discoveries and concerned by the will to preserve catholic dogma from errors and lies which threatened religious unity, Bossuet uses scientific discourse as a rational and apparently impartial evidence supporting dogmatic truth. By exploring the way Bossuet uses enunciative devices typical of scientific discourse, this article shows that erudite discourse takes part in the preacher’s apologetic enterprises.
