Two articles by Auguste Dide reveal that several Aloysius Bertrand manuscripts were present in Pairault’s bookstore in 1879. Why? How did they get there? We don’t know. Among them were hand-written pages and documents that were supposed to be in the library of Jules Claretie. It seems that the history of transmission of Bertrand’s manuscripts after the death of Laurent Coiret is not as well-known as we thought.
