Complementary references for a Latinist joke from “Venus Anadyomène”

In an article published in 1984, Marc Ascione showed that the final rhyme of « Venus Anadyomène » was no doubt implying a joke based on the two meanings of anus in latin and on those, also, of Venus / venus. This article provides a further example of the first pun in an obscene poem written by Théophile Gautier, in a similarly venal and venereal context.
