The relationship between the body and politics A satirical counterpoint in Silence et Tumulte by Nihād Sīrīs

This article analyzes the sarcastic portrayal of the relationship between the body and politics in Silence et Tumulte by Nihād Sīrīs. The narrative takes place in an unidentified Middle Eastern country, where its citizens are participating in a parade to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the dictator being in power. Fatḥī Šīn, a well-known author whose work is banned from publication, finds in satire and laughter a means to desanctify the figure of the dictator and overcome the intimidation felt by the body.
