This work, which focuses on the reception of Longinus in the Renaissance and the age of Classicism, examines modern readings of the sublime. Understanding the Longinian ὕψος is the prerequisite for this study on the fortune of an enigmatic text that seems to have been ignored in Antiquity, but that humanists knew well.
