Mères, tantes et sœurs dans l’œuvre d’Anne-Marie Garat

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Le Roman contemporain de la famille
  • Author: Dangy (Isabelle)
  • Abstract: The novelistic universe of Anne-Marie Garat is populated with women who interweave family legends in a complex manner. Adoptions, abortions, engenderings: all these ambivalences of the matriarchal world are written while interrogating the image of transmission, concerned almost exclusively with the feminine. Based on the archetypes of the popular novel, the writer reinvents the genealogical novel by revealing the paradoxes of maternity, which is a mixture of sacred love and profane hatred.
