The representation of the path, backed by a practice, must take into account various parameters: the mobilisation of all the senses, movement and close-up vision. Moreover, it is impossible, when one takes a path and puts it into words, to escape a past inscribed in the territory, or personal or bookish memories. Finally, the practice of paths, as reinvented by the works studied in this volume, is far from being free of critical and sometimes subversive aims.
