Japan by Bike Spatial Experience, from Head to Toe

Florent Chavouet retraces in words, drawings and maps his discovery of Tokyo by bicycle in 2006 in Tokyo Sanpo. Antoine Piazza explores the island of Shikoku also by bicycle and writes a purely textual story in Un voyage au Japon in 2007. The comparison of these two works intends to show the specificities of the spatial experience through the practice of cycling so as to highlight its possibilities and its limits in the understanding and the representation of a foreign territory.
