“ACEM”, Narrating theory – theorizing the tale

ACEM can be read as one of the essays in which Valéry undermines the distinctions between scientific and literary discourse. By recounting the life of several theories, this tale seeks to develop narrative forms that allow us to glimpse a prose composed as a system of possible meanings, both necessary and open to all conceivable extensions and combinations. Unfinished, with a few exceptions, the fragments of stories exploit the full potential of the narrative transformations.
