Travelling Theatre Some Tracks for the Exploration of Terræ Incognitæ in Travel Literature

The journey of a theatre-troupe is a well-known motif of classic fiction such as Scarron’s Roman comique; but critics have overlooked travelogues of artists on tour and especially theatre people that can be found in contemporary and digital literature notably. Using the case of Phèdre en Inde by Jean-Christophe Bailly, the present article investigates the literary potentiality of a narrative form which merges a classic travelogue with the narrative of the journey of a text and a performance.
