This paper will address Malebranche’s natural philosophy and its impact. I will show that elements of Malebranche’s philosophy—its principles, laws, and explanatory methods—can be found in texts from the eighteenth century, demonstrating that the philosopher was at the origins of one of the strands of mechanical philosophy of this period.
