The representation of money in its most material form is omnipresent in the novels of Dostoïevsky, whether it is counted kopeck by kopeck or squandered in a more scandalous way. However this money is, paradoxically, always abstract, reduced to what disappears and wastes away : it is only interesting as a “missing bundle”. As seen in the example of L’Adolescent, in which the plan to “devenir Rotschild” is developed, there are, in this way, several links with the literary work.
