The anonymous Latin booklet De tribus impostoribus, which is often confused with the celebrated Traité des trois imposteurs, has given rise to many discussions regarding the unity and dating of its contents. This article examines the first, probably older, part of the text, which criticizes mankind’s prejudices and false ideas about the divinity. At the same time, the booklet denounces the abuses of three revealed religions that use belief as a tool of power and deception.
