  • Abstract: Since 2004, Belgium has collected research from several “engineering,” architectural, and art history disciplines that contributes to furthering “knowledge on the techniques of the art of building.” The field has started to enter academic classrooms and the number of dedicated researchers is growing along with the number of theses defended. This article consists of an overall reflection on the field and on two priorities: the history of structural design and the history of construction practices.
