Jacques Guillot, a modest priest from Bourges, has so far barely attracted any critical attention. However, the few researchers to have taken an interest in him have acknowledged the positive aspects of his continuation of Ronsard’s La Franciade, which is faithful to Ronsard’s four books while offering developments of his own. The present study therefore takes stock of the posthumous reception of La Franciade before addressing Guillot’s Book VI, with a particular focus on its dedication to the Prince de Condé, its royal catalog, and its Berrichon ‘coloring’.
