In Marie et les deux François, published in 2010 by Sémaphore, Christian Lemieux-Fournier offers a “modern pastiche of Rabelais.” Not only does the protagonist Marie devote her doctoral thesis to the humanist, but she introduces her lover François to the Pantagruelian chronicle, leading him to produce a series of paintings. Marie, for her part, writes a novel, Le mariage de Graupen aura-t-il lieu?, inspired by Rabelais’s Tiers livre.
