The edition published in 1711 by Jacob Le Duchat was a landmark in the history of the reception of Rabelais. This article revisits the circumstances of this publication (and its re-editions up to 1741), drawing on certain little-known documents. This presentation is followed by the annotated transcription of three documents: the programmatic extract of a letter from Le Duchat to Bayle (1702); the dedicatory epistle and preface of the 1711 edition; and the bookseller’s preface in the 1741 edition.
