This collection devoted to Rabelais’s legacy, from Claude Nourry up to Ernest Renan, further reflects on the reception of Rabelais by highlighting the different intermediaries and relays that ensured the dissemination of his work. These range from its earliest publishers to its readers, and include translators, commentators, illustrators, imitators, and creators of pastiche, over a long period spanning from the first edition of Pantagruel in 1532 up to the final years of Ernest Renan’s life at the end of the nineteenth century.
