By looking at travel writing, we will define what the author describes as humorous and consider the place that criticism reserves for Huysmans’ comedic work, compared to Catholic, artistic, or naturalist works. In travel writing, there are scenes that must be included: embarkation, arrival at the destination, discovering the locals, cuisine, the hotel room, and so on. Huysmans, known to be a home-loving Parisian, wholeheartedly enjoys his explorations.
