The aim of this article is to question the representation of food in the Huysmansian imaginary. It will be shown how Zola’s legacy may have influenced Huysmans’ writing in the description of meals, although the author of À rebours moved away from his mentor. We will assess the importance of the idea of rejection of material food in favor of spiritual food. We will finally discuss the atypical way in which Huysmans appropriates the theme of taste.
