This article sheds some light on Deleuze’s reading of Mallarmé with reference to Un Coup de Dés. In particular, it seeks to understand the approach adopted by Deleuze within the context of the philosophical ideas in circulation during the period 1950-1970 when French philosophy sought to turn its back on an earlier tradition.
