At the core of Sartre’s method to produce a dialectical intelligibility of history, the notion of totalization rises philosophical and political questions, all the while stirring up criticism and misunderstanding. To shed light on problematics aspects of Sartre’s totalization, but also to measure it originality, this section creates a dialog between Sartre and philosophers who kept using the notion of totalization to theorize history and politics.
