Brand prescription and commercial practices on French YouTubers’ channels

By studying the audiovisual content published on so-called “lifestyle” channels on YouTube, this article examines the way in which YouTubers stage their consumption habits and fuel practices of prescription and commercial recommendation. As well as identifying the enunciative and semiotic characteristics of these practices, we look at how they have been integrated into the stream of ordinary prescriptions and evaluations present on the social web.
