The “imitation game,” devised by Turing to test whether it is appropriate to consider a machine a thinking entity, is based upon the difference between the sexes and the possibility of overcoming this: the respective abilities of a man and a machine to pass for a woman are compared. However, when the man tries to use language to subvert the duality of the sexes, the machine can only compete with him by absolutizing another duality, that of binary code.
