The Keepers reopens a sordid cold case, the murder of Sister Cathy Cesnik in 1969. Through the new investigation, the documentary miniseries unveils a terrifying pedocriminal background. By giving a seminal place to the recollection of traumatic memories, it makes memory one of its essential materials. The Keepers become thus a mausoleum, developing an ethics of remembrance in which the challenge is less the quest for truth than a response to the temptation of oblivion.
