According to the very first press article on Verano Azul (published in ABC on February 5th, 1980), the TV series deals with “generational conflict, sex, divorce, ecology, violence, death and many other subjects […] without any didactic or dogmatic dimension”. The present article aims at proving the opposite, in agreement with Antonio Mercero (the scriptwriter and director) for whom the success of the series in Spain can be accounted for by the fact that it reflects “Spanish factual reality”.
