Over the past two decades, film studies have given prominence to educational cinema, in particular to the rapid growth of texts on this subject in the 1910s and 1920s. Nevertheless, it must be noted that this genre of cinema, beyond the rhetoric, rather quickly encountered substantial limitations that were brought about by, inter alia, the 1920–24 industrial run on machines used in educational cinema.
