With Waltenberg, Hédi Kaddour gives a trompe-l’œil tribute to Malraux’s work. Its title and the « summit » in Waltenberg, refer to Les Noyers de l’Altenburg ; his direction of Malraux and Clappique, on the stage of Singapour proposes a playful variation on La Condition humaine. But it is also a reflexion on History and on the capacity to write stories after Auschwitz. If Kaddour loses the concept of transcendence in History, he encourages to re-read Malraux's overlooked novel.
