Anthropology, a new discipline that emerged at the beginning of the 20th century, has profoundly refreshed the interest in “primitive” while playing a fundamental role in the emergence of the primitivist movement. Studying the work of Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz, we will appreciate the influences that anthropologists' works have had on literature, giving rise to a very specific primitivism whose outlines will have to be defined.
