Very little is known about the relationship between Blaise Cendrars (1887-1961) and Carl Einstein (1885-1940) : friendship, cooperation, concurrence or critic? In 1916, Cendrars found inspiration in Einstein’s “Negerplastik’s” illustrations, published 1915 in Germany, for his own “Poèmes nègres”. On the other hand, Einstein preparing since 1917 an anthology of African myths, “Afrikanische Legenden” published 1925, was influenced by “Anthologie nègre” printed 1921.
