Corinne and the question of the French language A francophone epic

In Corinne ou l’Italie, de Staël adopts the epic template of the woman abandoned by her lover, who is bound by duty. She adds to this an emphasis on language: the erotic power of the woman partly relies on her national culture. Yet Corinne opposes two conceptions of the French language: one that is closed off and resistant to alterity, and another that is decentered, welcoming, and situated at the borders between cultures. Could this distinction make de Staël one of the first female theorists of Francophonie?
