This work made her, at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, one of the most prominent media and literary personalities in France, but also in Europe, so that she was later elected to the Académie des Dames, founded by Anna de Noailles, and then to the Académie Goncourt, of which she was the first woman in 1910, elected against Paul Claudel. This article deals with the history of this extraordinary academic career, her passage from one Academy to another, her activities and her role in the annual awarding of the prizes, within an institution where she sat until her death in 1917.
