Born in 1846, Isidore Ducasse grew up at a time when daguerreotype and photography were developing. However, only one photo of the poet, which is discussed, has come down to us. From Montevideo to his Parisian homes, Ducasse could not ignore this booming industry whose social role would evolve and mark a turning point in society. This article attempts to study the relationship between Ducasse and photography, both in his daily environment and in his literary work.
