Gérard Touzeau offers new information on Pedro Zumarán Jr., known as Pedrito, and shows that the eldest of Don Pedro’s children can claim, at least as much as his father, status as the third dedicatee of Poésies. The calamities described in the first stanza of Chant III of Maldoror and the probable presence of Isidore Ducasse in Montevideo during the cholera epidemic of February 1868 guide the research toward the possible identification of Pedrito and of the character Mario.
