This article analyses the semantic values of uri – the first person plural in Korean – in its indexical, lexical and evidential uses. In the verbal group, this marker expresses different values of plurality, while in the nominal group, it indicates the speaker's membership of a social group, or, sometimes exclusively in the Korean community. This original use of uri is studied in the light of the concept of evidentiality, understood as a collective source of knowledge.
