The present correspondence between Paul Claudel and Henry Cochin - a monarchist and Catholic politician who rallied to the Republic, but also a critic and a translator passionate about Italy - reveals a little-known friendly relationship. Their collaboration, linked to the creation of La Nuit de Noël 1914, continued when Cochin commissioned Claudel two texts on Dante for the sixth centenary of his death.
