Montaigne and the 19th century in the Bulletin de la Société des Amis de Montaigne and around

This article studies the presence of the 19th century in the BS(I)AM, revealing the existence of specific periods of investigation, privileged areas in the 19th century, a strong representation of German authors confronted with that of the Essays, a fairly complete review of the members of the French Pantheon who also tasted them, finally recurring features in the assessments made by the latter on Montaigne as well as in the "way" that their commentators have of treating them.
