Emil Cioran was Clément Rosset’s friend. The latter liked the man, with whom he particularly laughed a lot. He also admired Cioran’s work. It was then animated by a stringent yet benevolent look that Rosset set out to distinguish between Cioran’s pessimism and his tragic vision of reality.
